Joliet, Illinois – When we first met Michael Callahan a few years back, he was prepping his STREET LEGAL Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II for a 200 mph run on the salt at Bonneville for Speed Week.

You can read all about Michael and his amazing Mercury here. (You can also see them in the most recent Trick Flow Specialties catalog!)

Suffice it to say, Michael is our kind of gearhead. And that’s doubly true when you consider he drives said Mercury back-and-forth from Bonneville, Utah for these land speed record attempts.

So, what does someone who regularly drives a vintage 200+ mph muscle car cross-country take on the Hot Rod Power Tour?

Well, with the Mercury in the shop, Michael opted to bring his latest toy: a faithful Ford GT-40 reproduction—accurate right down to its “Gurney Bubble” on the roof.

The Summit Racing Video Team caught up with Michael during the first stop on the 2026 Hot Rod Power Tour, so you can get a close-up look at the car and hear from Michael himself in this quick video feature. Check it out below:
